On September 1, 2021, upon our return from The Rock, we moved our itinerant studio to AKA artist-run centre in Saskatoon for a five-month residency. Our first step was to cover the walls and floor in plastic to prevent paint spillage so that we could work freely without worry. This previously pristine, white cube became an active hub for political, social and creative engagement. The time allowed us to fully inhabit the space, using the expansive gallery walls and high ceilings to experiment with alternative placements, build an installation and view our progress. As Saskatchewan became the COVID capital of Canada, our work took on an urgency that focused on the lack of government response provincially, as well as our ongoing interest in global inequities, climate crisis, the dystopian January 6 uprising in Washington, DC, and the supply chain disruptions threatening to cancel Christmas.
